ENGAGEMENT WATCH FROM MY WIFE

In 1984, my wife knew I was going to be giving her an engagement ring. It was no secret - we were planning an August wedding in 1985. She already had my engagement present ready for the event - a gold Seiko watch engraved with YES! on the back. What an incredible gift and unique way to answer my question.

About 10 years later, it started to work only intermittently and then not at all. The battery was not the issue. I was told it would cost more to repair than a new watch would cost. I kept it because there was no way I could part with it.

Now, in 2007 after nearly 22 years of marriage - and after more than 10 years since the treasured Seiko engagement last functioned, I discovered that moving to a dry climate (Las Vegas - 3 years ago) had brought one of my childhood beloved watches back to life. I had previously lived in Iowa all my life and the humidity there is considerably higher.

About 3 weeks ago, decided to get a new battery for my Seiko and see if it, too, might be saved by the dry climate. It was!! I can' t believe it - I'm wearing it daily now and it works perfectly. My wife and I are still very happily married and I have my engagement watch back!
